A disproportionate number of Black people from the faith based community suffer from the aliments of high blood pressure, hypertension, cancer, and diabetes. Although we have great faith and diligently work on building within our communities, we often overlook the importance of managing our overall health, resulting in high mortality rates. Serving on the IHMC board allows me to support a mission I believe in. As a daughter of a pastor and an individual who knows first hand how compromised health can affect our community, I look forward to becoming part of a work that has the potential to impact generations of people to come.
